National Nail Tech Price Increase Day

Nails are a huge part of the beauty industry and for many people around the world, this luxury pampering session is an ever-growing business. From creating nails for clients, to being their ‘counselling service’, we’ve heard it all. However, we are not just Nail Technicians, we are artists who are perfecting our clients’ nails, mastering designs, whilst juggling a small business and the added costs which come with it. We may have a successful business with clients but are we really sustaining our business with current prices?

Whilst we are within a thriving market, we are probably not getting paid as much as we should be for our work. If you take in consideration the cost of our tools, products, courses, insurance, premises, business operations etc, it all adds up and we are possibly not even making minimum wage.

This is where the National Nail Tech Price Increase Day, which is taking place on April 8, aims to change.

So, what is National Nail Tech Price Increase Day?

“A recent study conducted by ‘The Nail Tech Org’ has discovered that while most nail technicians charge around £40, they are only taking home around £7 per hour after deducting all the costs!”

But, according to the UK governments National Career page, even experienced nail technicians are earning an annual salary of £22,000.
As a result, the organisation has decided to launch National Nail Tech Price Increase Day this year to empower nail technicians to grow their businesses.

So, what does this mean for Nail Technicians?

All nail technicians are expected to use this day to raise their prices simultaneously. By raising our prices together normalises the idea that our customers should be paying more for our services. This movement is encouraging us to increase our prices at the same time, so we create a new normal which pays us a fair wage for our work and services we provide.
At the moment, inflation is all around us and the prices we charge has not increased for many years which is not sustainable.

This should mean we can create not just a successful business but also a sustainable one to carry on doing what we love.

How Can You Support National Nail Tech Price Increase Day?

Many nail techs have already voiced their interest in taking part, urging their valued clients to appreciate why they’re doing it. Whilst others have also shared their experienced of how difficult the current beauty market is.

In recent months, I have seen a huge jump in fantastic nail techs looking for alternative work as they cannot financially carry on with most shutting down their businesses. This is unfair to most who have a huge passion for what they do! We all cannot afford to absorb the costs any longer with increasing bills and inflation. Let’s all stand together to increase our prices!
